Approximately fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Cars, walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Police then found numerous other vandalized cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials state early analysis show the liquid was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; investigators are currently not informed of any injuries in relation with the event," they added.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to resolve the case" and have requested to the public for details.
An important political figure stated the attack rendered him speechless and had to be addressed quickly.
"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the death of nine people by a assailant focusing on people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
