This match provided a chance for some of Palace's fringe talent to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a well-taken finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a another, scoring for the second consecutive succession.

Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw several players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his very first touch, but saw his effort blocked.
Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still room for development in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
