In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a brief look into the plot but keeping fans curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys find good homes.
Surely, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the insignia pinned to her shirt.
Hopefully she is still the key figure among the group.
